As I was signing books at Edgewater elementary the other day, there was a girl waiting in line with a piece of notebook paper clutched in her hand.

“I don’t have your book,” she said, “but after your talk yesterday, I went home and wrote this story. Could you read it?”

Wow. I mean… just – wow.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a book to give her. Instead, I wrote a note on a bookmark and signed it.
