A couple weeks ago, I was downstairs playing with the kids when my wife poked her head in the room.

“Dinner’s almost ready,” she said.

“Wait!” my youngest son shouted.

We all looked at him.

“If the phone rings,” he said, with his most serious expression. “Don’t answer it.”

“Why?” my wife asked.

“Because it’s my teacher. She said she wants to talk to you. Don’t answer it.”

“Oh really?” I said.”What happened at school today?”

“Nothing,” he said.

Hmm… Why didn’t I ever think of trying that when I was a kid? I’m sure my folks wouldn’t have answered the phone if I asked them not to.
