Crying Poop

N, our 3 year old, has been potty trained for quite some time. He is only just now getting to the point, however, where he doesn’t need any help with toilet paper.

The other day, he shouted “Daddy! Help!” from the bathroom.

I ran to help, of course. I always treat calls for help seriously – especially when the bathroom is involved.

He was sitting on the potty when I burst through the door. “What? What is it?”

“Could you wipe me?” he asked.

“What?”

“Could you wipe me!”

“No!” I was a bit annoyed. ”You do it.”

“But I don’t want to get my hands dirty!”

“What? No!”

He had nothing else to say. All he could do was laugh. I left. It was only later that I realized I should have given my “don’t call for help unless you really need it” speech.

Oh well. I’m sure he’ll try it again. They always do.
